Marilyn DUPE: “Something Has to Give”
All photographs on this page were taken by Lawrence Schiller in Los Angeles, CA 1962. The images were made while he was on assignment for Paris Match to photograph Marilyn Monroe on the set of “Something Has To Give”, a film with Dean Martin and Cyd Charisse, directed by George Cukor. There is an additional photograph made for a Life Magazine cover, also from May, 1962 .
The photographs of the pool scene were to have Marilyn in the pool, with Dean Martin on a balcony looking down at her (“Rome & Juliet”). Marilyn was to be “nude”. Everyone associated with the production assumed that Marilyn would wear a body suit. She soon jettisoned the suit.
The photo shoot was done 6-7 times at the end of May 1962. The last photos taken of Marilyn on this set were made on her 36th birthday on June 1, 1962.
The movie was never finished because of her untimely death in August of 1962.
These images are for sale. The provenance for all the images is directly from the photographer, Lawrence Schiller, to the current owner. Further details and prices may be discussed upon inquiry.
